La Liga: Sergio Ramos secures another win for Real Madrid

Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, was at it again today when he pushed the team towards their first La Liga title since 2012.

It could be recalled that Ramos’ penalty secured the last win for the Galatcos against in-form Getafe as they maintain a seven-point lead to move away from Barcelona that will be traveling to Villareal later tonight.

Sergio Ramos, who has converted his last 22 penalties for the Whites, including three since football restarted, scored the solitary goal that gave his team the maximum points.

From the look of the results, fro the remaining five games, Real Madrid will need to win just three more games to win the league.

The skipper converted the spot-kick as he did on Thursday after Dani Garcia fell Marcelo in the box 18 – a decision given by VAR.

Ramos has now been in front of goals. The highest scoring defender in La Liga history has scored five goals in seven matches, which Madrid won all since the restart.

In the game that was of few chances, Real Madrid goalie, Thibaut Courtois, was on holiday as he made only one save in the entire game to keep another clean sheet. The Belgian has now equaled 17 clean sheets in a season set by Francisco Buyo in 1994/95.

Madrid is currently on 77 points on top of the La Liga table, followed by Barcelona with 70 points. Athletico Madrid and Sevilla complete the top four with 62 and 57 points, respectively.

Villareal and Getafe that are still hoping fr Champions League places are just four points behind Sevilla occupying the last qualifying slot.
